FIRST BIOMETRIC VOTE IN GHANA
DECEMBER 7 , 2012 SAW GHANAIANS ENGAGED IN THEIR FIRST BIOMETRIC POLLS. MANY WERE THRILLED BY THE VERIFICATION DEVICE , ESPECIALLY WITH RESULTS SAID IN HUMAN VOICE. SEVERAL VOTERS STARTED WAITING FROM 4 AM , TO CAST THEIR BALLOTS. ELECTIONS WERE TO BEGIN 7 AM. ALL WENT WELL EXCEPT IN FEW PLACES WHERE THE VERIFICATION MACHINES MALFUNCTIONED. VOTING CONTINUED THE NEXT DAY IN STATIONS WHERE THE MACHINES FAILED TO WORK PROPERLY. FEW WILD ALLEGATIONS WERE MADE OF VOTING IRREGULARITIES. THE MAIN OPPOSITION PARTY , NPP , ORGANIZED A PRESS BRIEFING , CLAIMING SOME IRREGULAR ACTIVITIES DURING THE VOTING. A MEETING WAS ARRANGED BETWEEN THE ELECTORAL COMMISSION , NDC , NPP AND NATIONAL PEACE COUNCIL TO LOOK INTO FEARS OF NPP. THEY WERE ADVISED TO RESORT TO COURT ACTION , AFTER THE RELEASE THE
